CLASSICAL & ORCHESTRAL |
|
| Capriccio (37K), XG - Feb 05 | |
| This little - one movement long - piece has been developed form very few musical though, in a sonata-like form. I`ve adjusted this MIDI with a Yamaha SX20 Softsynth output. My piece is XX. Century Classical Chamber music. | |
| Breath of Love (87K), GM - Feb 05 | |
| This is the 1st movement of the 2nd Symphony, as always I would recommend using the Merlin 1.5 sound font, set to Hall. Edited with Cakewalk, | |
| On The Sea (25K7), XG - Feb 09 | |
| Category: Orchestral. Description: A small boat on the vast ocean meets waves, rain, calm and storm, and manages to stay afloat. The nausea you feel is really sea sickness. Written with Finale, modified with Cakewalk Home Studio, using Yamaha SXG-50 sound synth driver. If you don't have it, use gigantic sound fonts at your discretion. If it sounds like a live orchestra, that's the Yamaha driver. If it sounds like two kids with a kazoo and tin pots, thats the GM sound fonts. | |
| Unbegun Symphony 3rd movement (35K3), GM - Feb 10 | |
| I'm not sure who is going to get this (Lavio?), but Ron Roos (says he's the owner of the site) said I should give this a try and send in these files. I'm pretty sure the music is supposed to be original, which these are not. But I'm the only person I know of to put together midi files of music from P.D.Q. Bach (J.S. Bach's long-forgotten son) or Professor Peter Schickele (perpetrator of P.D.Q.). Even if they're not eligible for the contest, I'd love to get some feedback on this. Now I should warn you that Professor Schickele's style has been described as "manic plagiarism" and all of his work has one unique trait: every theme he manages to come up with has already been thought of by someone else. But that doesn't stop him... And P.D.Q.'s music is a combination of his father's genius and his own alcoholism. The horribly dissonant toots in the Fuga Vulgaris are actually written in. I put these together on the Cakewalk Music Creator using a Soundblaster Audigy 24-bit card. Enjoy! | |
| Unbegun Symphony 4th movement (55K7), GM - Feb 10 | |
| I'll submit the complete "Unbegun Symphony" (3rd and 4th movements). Trust me, there are no 1st or 2nd movements. I think you have the 3rd so here's the 4th. Again, it's by Professor Peter Schickele. | |
| Prelude (On The Way to The Truth) (7K3), GM - Feb 28 (updated) | |
| This composition is as my Prelude. It is for a game named The Legend. I use there the pedal feature, I hope that it'll work on your MIDI driver. It is somehow beautiful, I think... It goes on the category of Orchestral compositions, or what do you think, doesn't it? Listen the whole MIDI from the beginning to the end, and I'm quite sure that you would like it! The instruments are Vibraphone x2, Violin x2, Brass Horn and Timpani. Violin has got 2 staffs because I didn't can use my NoteWorthy Composer so well and I wasn't able to add a chord member =)! Now I can, but it's a shareware version, and there's limited capasity of saves per one composition, so I didn't update it with one staff less, but it doesn't matter anyways. Program: NoteWorthy Composer. | |
| We Will Come to Heaven (25K3), GM - Feb 11 | |
| The name of the work is "We will come to haven" and it describes that if you beleve in Jesus you will come to heaven. I have made it in Cakewalk and with a soundblaster awe 64.'' | |
| Charo's Classical Box (67K), GM - Feb 16 | |
| Here's my first entry for Feb. I think you'll enjoy this one. "Charo's Classical Box", inspired by Charo's flamenco guitar style, but not necessarily following traditional flamenco progressions. A lot of effort went into producing a natural sound, right down to the fret noises you hear when sliding your hand up and down the fretboard. Accompanied with pan flute and cello. Configured for MerlinGM15 sound font.... for those who must use a soft-synth, it sounds best through Surreal, with the Merlin sound font loaded, but also sounds good using Roland VSC, general midi. Enjoy, and for those who remember Charo, a hearty "Hootchie-Cootchie!" to ya. | |
| Ophelia (69K6), GM - Feb 20 | |
| This is a song I wrote which tells the tragic tale of the Shakespearian character Ophelia from `Hamlet'. | |
| Autumn Swans (30K3), GM - Feb 20 | |
| Made to performed with cello´s violins and triangle............using Sibelius notation software, SB live 8M sf and broken headphones............ and ofcourse with lot of my amateur-composing-power founded since august 2001. | |
| Memory Lapse (13K1), GM - Feb 20 | |
| It is a short and sad piano song with support of a strong choir background. I used the PC4.2 soundfont for it because of the excellent deep piano that soundfont has, together with a Korg choir I found somewhere on the net. I think this song would fit in the classical/piano song category. | |
| Classic3 (40K), GM - Feb 28 (updated) | |
| It is orchestral and was my third classical piece using the same technique. It was composed using the Merlin sound font 8M Plus I found in this great site (with the standard fonts it sounds a lot more choppy and flat). Merci. | |
NON ORCHESTRAL |
|
| Crazy Girl (73K6), GM - Feb 05 (not original) | |
| A tune called "CRAZY GIRL",JAZZ-WALTZ category. A very smooth in character with a piano improvisation that make You feel a special climax of a jazz quartet. I wish you all the best with this music. | |
| Ballad for Piano (65K8), GM - Feb 05 (is it original?) | |
| This is a tune "BALLAD for PIANO"-a nice soul/pop ballad. Piano is mixed on several tracks which gave me a solution to create very "noisy" piano effect. Also are present very apropriate sounds corresponding to soul.Drums are also mixed to get a stronger sound. From my chair here, it was a very hard work.Composed using YAMAHA Clavinova CVP-92. | |
| You Are Wonderful (62K3), GM - Feb 05 | |
| Title of the song: "You are wonderful". Type: GM midi. Style: Acoustic/Rock. | |
| Mama's Son (65K6), GM - Feb 09 | |
| I use a Sound Blaster Live sound card. And 8Mb GS FX E-mu Rev B sound fonts. | |
| Night Life (65K5), GM - Feb 09 | |
| Category: Techno. Description: This fast-paced song portrays all the excitement and action that goes on in the busy night life of a big city. Composed using Cakewalk Pro Audio 9, keyboard, and SoundBlaster 128PCI. | |
| Fievre (111K), GM - Feb 10 | |
| Here is my midi song next contest. "Fievre". It's a modern latin / rock style. Regards. | |
| Metsässä or In The Woods (32K7), GM - Feb 10 | |
| In English, the name of this rock song would be "In the Woods". Making this song was quite a long process, it started sometime last Autumn, when I was on a camp in the army. The song tells about a soldier sitting in the woods and guarding the camp. He's very tired but tries to keep warm inside by thinking his "special someone" out there behind the woods. Eventually he falls asleep and stars an imaginary journey with her. Unfortunately he's interrupted, when the camp is attacked and when it gets quiet again, it's already morning. I created this file with Evolution Audio and a Korg NS5R -synth module. Yamaha soft synths aren't recommended for playback of this file, at least SYXG50 seems to "loose" the organ track somehow... Anyway, I hope you like this one. | |
| Discottanta (47K6), GM - Feb 14 | |
| Category: DISCO. This work tries to reproduce the discomusic of the 80's, even if there are many references to the actual disco music. It was written with a Sound Blaster Live sound card. | |
| Funkuary 2002 (41K3), GM - Feb 17 | |
| The 13th month of the year, Funkuary, is not visible to the ordinary person. Time stops for them, while only those who create, or wish to create music are allowed by God to experience this time and take advantage of it while the rest of the world stands still. Musicians the world over observe this special holiday to get their groove on, and for those who have never grooved, this time is used for them to find theirs, and evolve. I used several different progression composers to lay down the percussion and rhythms of this tune over a period of several hours, then took it into Cakewalk Sonar to enhance and develop it. About 2 hours were put into adding melodies & harmonies and perfecting the arrangement. Special attention was given the brass, to get a nice fat sound... If you aren't able to groove to this, there's something wrong with you, and it is strongly recommended you take next Funkuary off for personal reflection. | |
| Oath of Druids (49K4), GM - Feb 20 | |
| Here is my entry for the february midi contest. The two songs made with my home-made midi composing program MiGTracker Millenium and a SB Live soundcard. Because I have made the music program myself I am kind of curious what quality the MIDIs will be rated, as it could also prove if the software is any good ;) It is called "Oath of Druids". It is a kind of New Age song with RPG music influences. It was made with the Chaos 8MB soundfont but sounds rather well with almost every soundfont I've tried, if the piano flute and bass are well balanced. Alright, I hope these MIDIs will be accepted in the contest and I wish you well with your great web site. | |
| Jazz Opportunity (72K6), GM - Feb 24 | |
| It is a jazz piece. It was created using Noteworthy Composer and is best heard in Jet-MIDI. | |
| Final Motif (41K4), GM - Feb 24 | |
| Music name: Final Motif Category: Non Orchestral Comment: New mood music 2002, sequenced by SB Live. No listening Cadenza, Merlin, Reality etc. extra soundfont, use standard 8MB E-mu soundfont, to optimal listening. | |
| Kodo 466 (57K1), GM - Feb 28 | |
| Genre : Trance. Length : 5:11 minutes. Hardware : Yamaha Soundcard. Software : Massiva (MIDI Sequencer For Windows). | |
| Painful Experience (53K1), GM - Feb 28 | |
| Category: Non-Orchestral. Comments: Kind of fusion music arranged for a small ensemble (bass, piano, jazz guitar, el.piano, flute and drums). MIDI type 1, sequenced with MicroLogic AV. Best heard with all GS-synthesizers (hardware or software). | |
| Search (7K), GM - Feb 28 | |
| This is my MIDI. | |
| Punk (15K), GM - Feb 28 | |
| Thanks for your invitation! | |
MIXED & UNKNOWN |
|
| Nostradamus (52K2), GM - Feb 05 | |
| When Albert Einstein was asked "what kind of weapons man would use in WWIII?" he answered "I do not know put I can tell you he fight WWIV with Sticks and Stone". Thus here is Nostradamus's Armageddon. Beware of the Nukes and gunfire at the end of this piece. The only thing that remands at the end is the Angles. Hopefully man will survive the 21st century, and the interruptions of these prophecies will not come to pass. (Merlin 1.5 SF, Concert Hall setting, Cakewalk 2002). | |
| Overture (8K8), XG - Feb 09 | |
| Attached is my first overture attempt. | |
| Sukiyaki (7K3), GM - Feb 09 | |
| The song I'm submitting in English is called "Sukiyaki", the the real name we use in Japanese is "Ue wo muite Arukou", but everybody uses "Sukiyaki" because it's shorter. It's an Old Japanese folk song written by Kyu Sakamoto in 1963. I made this song in midi because "Sukiyaki" is still holding the sign of the most popular song in the world. Most people in the world heard this song long time ago. I made this midi file by a program called guitar pro. I typed in the guitar notes in the program, added some drum beat, and I converted it into midi. Then I found out that it sounds good, so I decided to join some contest. | |
| Shuffle (23K4), GM - Feb 10 | |
| As you see in the file size, it lasts longer than Prelude. It is cool shuffle, and maybe my longest composition, I don't know... The drums goes cool, and it has five instruments: Sawtooth Wave, Tuba, Strings, Slap Bass and Drums. Listen to it. There isn't anything else to discuss about it. There they were, so have a good time with them! I hope that I would have these MIDIs in your February 2002 Midi-contest! | |
| Tiganiada (20K), GM - Feb 11 | |
| For the contest. | |
| The Song of the Rain (41K6), GM - Feb 11 | |
| For the contest. | |
| Ear Whiskers (35K8), GM - Feb 11 | |
| Catagory: AMBIENT. This song revolves around the augmented C chord and the B major 7 chord. The rhthmic pulse of the voices is an interesting aspect. | |
| Venere (11K), GM - Feb 14 | |
| The song was composed by using a Sound Blaster Live sound card without the help of keyboards. | |
| Since I Met You (65K), GM - Feb 16 | |
| SBLive soundcard with Cadenza soundfontbank. | |
| Northern Star (42K5), GM - Feb 20 | |
| I used regular orchestral midi type fonts. Nothing special as far as fonts go. This is my first entry in the contest here. I don't know what category it fits in. Maybe Space music. Alls I can say about it is on a clear night I look up at the sky... and this is more or less about the feelings I get. The main theme is from another and larger work. I felt it might bear futher exploration. Positive constructive comments would be very much appreciated. Thanks for listening. | |
| Operation Percussion Ensemble (18K5), GM - Feb 20 | |
| This is a pecussion piece that is based of a theme by Mozart from 'The Marriage of Figaro'. Sounds good using Cadenza soundfont. Track 2 (xylophone) needs to be transposed down two octaves when using Merlin v1.5. | |
| Is it a stool or a table (28K7), GM - Feb 28 | |
| Place it under mixed please. No comment, I just hope you enjoy it. | |
| Impulse (76K), GM - Feb 28 | |
| Category: Mixed. Description: Techno-Swing. How's that for an odd combination heh. This one can be a bit jolting when it switches styles, so keep your ears open. I've been requested to arange this piece for live orchestra, but I'm not sure which instruments to use for several of the tracks since I didn't write the piece with orchestration in mind. Any suggestions on that would be muchly appreciated! | |
| Veildance (41K3), GM - Feb 28 | |
| It was written with Voyetra MusicWrite on a proprietary, supposedly Soundblaster compatible card; Someone else who's listened to it says the tune sounds too loud compared with the base. I'm prepared to believe him, but on my card it sounds just about right! Which does indeed highlight the diff. between cards. | |
| Passion and Pain (40K1), GM - Feb 28 | |
| Mixed & unknown. Second part of my last month entry "Pain and passion" that was highly controversial. (Scores from 5,5 to 9,5 and standard deviation 1.206!). It doesn't make much sense without first part,(though I don't claim that it will have sense for any particular listener when she or he hears both parts together). Enjoy (or hate it),but anyway I appreciate your great work. SB live Sonar Cadenza sound font. | |
EXPERIMENTAL |
|
| Bacon Day (7K8), GM - Feb 09 | |
| I don't know how fast the moon is rotating. I don't know the gestation period for a vulture. I don't even know how much my kneecaps weigh. All that I can say right now is that this song is called "Bacon Day", and it should be classified as either "experimental", or "tonsiltastic". | |
| Gobblegasters (63K7), GM - Feb 11 | |
| Catagory:experimental. My 3 year old grandson loves to play LODE RUNNER; that is, until the little red men start chasing you up and down the ladders. He calls them GOBBLEGASTERS. | |
| Reflections (88K6), GM - Feb 28 | |
| Category: Experimental. Description: The initial inspiration for this piece came when a webcam in a classroom was jostled just slightly so that it was aimed half at the monitor that was projecting the images from the camera, and half at a glass window that reflected the image of both the webcam and the monitor, resulting in an infinite series of pictures in several directions. I admit, there is a rather large of a leap in logic to get from the imagry to the piece of music, but who cares as long as there's a good guitar lead involved right? This piece was composed on a SB Live!, and the percussion track was written for the sound effects percussion option for the more recent SB cards. The bank number for the effects of track 10 differs from soundcard to soundcard, so it may need to be adjusted to play correctly (it will play without the proper sound fonts, but it'll sound a lot wierder than it's supposed to). | |
