Promised Land (41K), GM - Jan 4
Cinematic. Exodus to Joshua (Jerico). Rated R for violence. Heard best with a live orchestra, but if one is not available the Yamaha SXG-50 softsynth driver is a suitable substitute ("Hall" setting). Written with Finale, modified slightly with Cakewalk Home Studio.

Recessional (24K), GM - Jan 4
Boistrous celebration of marriage meant originally to be the recessional for a wedding (my son's). Best heard with sound fonts the size of Cleveland, or the Yamaha SXG-50 softsynth driver ("Hall" setting). Written with Finale.

Symphony 1 Redone (35K4), GM - Jan 12
"Symphony I" really isn't a Symphony. In fact, it's a very short piece that could probably use some expanding. It was on of my first, and I've always loved its legato sections. I also really like the themes that are present, and so, for the first of 2002, I thought I'd re-orchestrate/arrange it. I hope you enjoy my little trip to one of my first compositions, and, of course, a blessed and Happy New Year to all!"

Classical - To Aquarius is a Classical peace on mans journey in his changing world from the dark ages we have know to the golden age that is yet to come. There are only four instruments; the French horns are a duplicate of the bass tune to give it a different sound. (Cakewalk, SB live) Concert hall setting for better sound.

12 Winds in 4 Parts (12K1), GM - Jan 17
Classical. Um, it's actually only 11 winds, so dont be fooled. I had big plans for this one, but because of the limitations of my midi skillz, those plans never worked out. So all I ended up doing was this one and cool devices ( 2 of the 4 parts are not complete).

This is my entry to classical genre. This is my idea of spring with one gray rainy day. At the end instruments sings: spring is here, spring is here, spring is here....... Made with Sibelius music notation software, 8mb sf. (There are both midi- and sibelius files you can choose).

Phoenix Suite No 1 (119K6), GM - Jan 31
Category: Orchestral / Cinematic. Description: This suite features music that was written for a dark science fiction adventure game called 'Phoenix Rising'. The project was abandoned about two years ago and left behind a rudimentary storyboard and an unfinished soundtrack. I have now compiled some of the musical sketches into a suite that includes themes and key sequences from the first half of the plot. GM Format 1, Sequenced with Cakewalk Pro Audio 8 / Cakewalk Sonar, using a SB Live soundcard. Vicman / Cadenza Sound Font and decent 'Choral Aah' voices highly recommended (ie. 5MB 'Choir Choral Aahs' from the Sound Site).

Category: Orchestral. Description: Written on a SB Live! with concert-hall reverb. The drum track should sound similar to a timpani, but it might not have the right bank number for orchestral percussion on other cards.

ORCHESTRAL. (Final Version posted at Pixel Arts Only). This is the Final Version of a Boys Dream. This is also part of the 2nd Symphony 2nd movement. One and three have yet to be written. (SVlive , merlin1.5 , Roland ED PC-70). The Conductor steps onto the podium, the audience breaks into applauses, he taps his baton to get the musicians attention, the audience becomes silent. Two more taps, his hands rise into the air with a magical jester, and then the dream begins ...

Jazz category. Tune called "KATTORNA".This is a combo arrangement scored for jazz trio with one piano improvisation over D diminished scale.As a whole this venture including bebop style,but not exactly.Kattorna offers to a listener many music features that appeal to overall categories(specific form,melody,piano tacet).This music is the philosophy which draws upon such influences as American jazz-J.Coltrane,Don Ellis and the "Modern Jazz Quartet",European contemporary musicians Bartok ,Schonberg,and Webern and Slavonic folk music.It's this category of music that extract the purely unique quality, which pervades "Kattorna".Enjoy.Performed using CVP-92 Clavi nova.

Kann denn Liebe Sunde sein ? (33K), GM - Jan 4
Foxtrot from the film "Der Blaufuchs". Arrangement for a small ballroom band.This is a very unique piece of music .It influence to music from the films of 1938;music which was performed in clubs,meetings in Germany. Chords are very ear-catching,fresh,vital.Bass line is simple structurized-it depends on several intervals.The melody is soft and fits to the whole piece creating a unique,charming climax.Enjoy.

For contest-jazz. I have always been blessed with the ability to super-impose one song over another. If you listen to this long enough, you will hear echos of the USA's military songs.

The NWC program uses real placement of notes on a staff, and uses WYSIWYG playback. As for song classification, the file tittled "OrangoTango", is a short tango and should be classified so.

January Ides (25K5), GM - Jan 22
Written January the 15th.. an upbeat jazz tune that uses a lot of fat brass, and some odd progressions and a live feel. Configured for MerlinGM15 sound font, live hall reverb and moderate chorus in Surreal, Initial progression created in Jammer, progressions edited in Cakewalk Sonar using various CAL programs, arrangement and misc. edits also done in Sonar.

This Fire (42K4), GM - Jan 27
Category: Rock/Pop. Gear: Cakewalk 6.0, Vibra 128 card, Carlton Bitter Beer. Comment: These are the backing tracks for a song that I have used real guitar (electric and acoustic) and voice on, so I can empathise if it seems a bit bare...but hopefully it rocks a bit. I added a rhodes piano to play the lead vocal melody so you can get a bit more of an idea.

You've heard about the cellar door, but what about the attic?Spiders are everywhere in this old dusty attic... climbing up your leg, in your hair, and even.... yes... in your skull. Don't believe that?... well... here's the evidence... right from Edgar Allen Poe's attic.... behind the door... forevermore. Sequenced in Sonar, set for MerlinGM15 sound font, but works well with general midi as well.... hey, what's that climbing up your neck? Melody for Thursday (31K2), GM - Jan 8
For contest catagory-unknown etc. Here is a little tune to cheer you up. It could almost be considered a song for children. It starts with a percussion track I made up, builds up through the conter-melody and regresses back to the percussion track. I hope you enjoy this little song.

Category: unknown. This is a fun piece that presents a unique style using solely the piano. Read the title and I hope you enjoy the song. Best listened to using a SoundBlaster soundcard set on 8mb.

Pain and Passion 2 (54K), GM - Jan 26
I mixed simple with complex, western scales with eastern scales and odd rhythm patterns, trying to present mixture of pain and passion in life. I heard short melody about 1:35 from one old woman and it doesn't belong here, but somehow I felt like putting it , cause it reflects the same feeling . SB live, cadenza, sonar.

Lost Beat (37K2), GM - Jan 31
Category: Mixed. Techno-Middle-Eastern fusion. I went bonkers with polyrhythm in this one, mixing both Middle-Weastern instruments, tonalities, and rhythm with Western styles. Though it may sound like 4/4 in most places (and it is scored in 4/4 through those parts), the various instruments shift in and out of 4/4, 9/8, 6/4, and in some phrases all the tracks just drop out a beat and switch to 7/4 to shake things up.

Serenity (17K1), GM - Jan 17
The category is: Experimental. This composition is modeled after the Serenity Prayer: "God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change... Courage to change the things I can and Wisdom to know the difference..." The first part of the piece is the sweet, soothing, sound of serenity. It breaks off into a technical show in the middle with courage and is followed by the flowing sound of wisdom. This is best listened to with a SoundBlaster soundcard set on 8mb. I hope you all in enjoy!

Entrails of Snow (15K8), GM - Jan 27
Experimental. This is my first piece that is actually made for midi ( and not for real instruments ). It's short, very complex, but at the same time, quite amusing. The first part is a "variation on a theme" and the second is a "waltz".

Whales Call (72K1), GM - Jan 31
EXPERIMENTAL. For the Cello. The Inspiration for this song was the fact that you can make a real neat whales call with the Merlin 1.5 sound font. Set to Concert Hall. " Captain there be whales here." This 4 min peace passes quickly so enjoy.
