| Journey in my Dreams | 7.70 | Sorta' like the modulation controller at the beginnig- good use of MIDI expression throughout. Like the sort of plagal sound to the piece- makes me think of Asia. Not sure if patch was the best choice on trk. 8, but it's a good echo of the main theme. The pizzicato strings up top add a nice feel as well! The bongo is really good, and the sitar adds a great middle eastern feel- nice use of middle eastern scales. On the whole, a very good ethnic journey! | |||||||||||
| Twilight Journey | 7.30 | I really like the original choice of instruments. Most cinematic pieces are orchestral- but the guitars really work toward the overall feeling of the piece. They really seem to add. The percussion is slightly out of place, but a good effort. A+ for originality. | |||||||||||
| What a Fool I Was | 6.70 | Nice introduction. Late on, the guitars really dominate the piece while the stringed instruments take the melody. Perhaps this is only my equipment, so I won't count off for it- the guitar sounds like it has a really high attack rate. The drums are a good idea, but are very distracting. Don't like the chord progression much, but that's just opinion, and it is made up for in the good sections. Do you place pedal markings in the music? The muddy mess of notes in the piano sounds like it was done by hand. Kind of hackeneyed throughout, but a good effort. | |||||||||||
| Ants and Fairys Dance | 4.30 | Is that really how you spell 'fairys?' :). Good MIDI expression, but the melody seems to wander about in abandon. It's almost as if you just played random notes on the violin part. Over-repition is a trap we all fall into, but really, this is kind of absurd. There seems to never be a repeat of a phrase in any kind of logical place. Try to at least center the piece somewhere. | |||||||||||
| Willabum's Final Adventure | 9.86 | 11/8?!? That's great! Good themes, too. I really like the melancholy feel at the beginning- and around m. 30, that phrase is great!!! The fun, almost contrapuntal section is very impressive. How sad that our hero dies! Great percussion- the rolled cymbal and timpani are great. The 'flying' section is great. Watch this guy- he's got it goin' for him! Top Quality material! | |||||||||||
| The Market | N/A | My piece. Can't review. Sucks compared to some of these! | |||||||||||
| Midnight | 9.87 | Wow! Masterful use of MIDI. The sleigh bells (can't recall real name right now) sound excellent. The echoes are superb! Great themes- excellent uses of instuments. The atmosphere created by this piece is absolutely incredible! Top Quality Vote #2! (PS- I would love to hear a fully orchestrated version of this. It is really one of the best MIDIs I have ever heard.) | |||||||||||
| Emerald | 7.70 | Good MIDI expression throughout. I like it when this piece does things you don't expect- its full of suprises. Great job! | |||||||||||
| Brave New World | 7.60 | I love the ryhthmic quality- later in the piece, when it breaks out a little more, I find the synth a bit annoying. Good job. | |||||||||||
| Duke Nuke Play | 6.70 | I have to admit, I really don't think this sounds like a Duke Nukem sort of song, but I won't take off any points for that. Good MIDI expression. | |||||||||||

| Knight Time | 7.00 | Well, it is abstract. That's great, though. The piece sounds great until the drums come in. The two just don't mesh well in my mind. | |||||||||||
