MIDI WORK SCORE COMMENT
CLASSICAL & ORCH.
To The Queen of England 6.30 Too little elaborate arrangement and instrumentation. The composition is not convincing to me. It lacks a clear direction. It requires also a lot of technical editing (note lengths, dequantization etc.).
Death at Genoa 6.50 Similar properties as above. A little better arranged, but too chaotic and accidental.
Suite #1 Dmaj 8.00 The first part (kind of a quick paced dance) is very good. Interesting harmonies, good tempo and precize arrangement. I really liked it. The second, as well as the following parts, are not so convincing . You have paid too little attention to dynamics. Everything is played loud or very loud. More expression controls would rise the quality of this music.
Doublin 8.80 Very good composition, well corresponding in its character with the title. The main motif sounds familiar to me. I think I have heard something similar in one of the australian TV series. I liked especially the orchestration, very varied and professionally done.
The Hubbard Saga 7.80 Not bad, but too many tedious passages. Voice Oohs sound not very convincing here. It would be better to choose some other instrument for this part, I think. If it was to stand for human voice, I would choose Voice Aahs. I have checked - they sound much better.
Trio 2.00 I really don't know what this was meant to be? Looks like an accidental playing with the sounds. That's all.
Adagio Interlude 6.70 Very sad and suggestive music, but too monotonous for my taste. Why not add one or two contrasting passages to it and make it more "digestible".
War March 7.00 A lot of work has been done to orchestrate this music, but unfortunately the effect is relatively lower. The music is a bit too repetitive in some places and too little expressive as for the march, especially in the second part. Tuba is a little late in relation to other instruments. The attack time of this instrument is rather long, so it is sometimes necessary to shift all the notes 10-20 ticks ahead of the normal beat.
Romantic Suite 3 9.60 Composition from the musical point of view is excellent. Very interesting, sophisticated harmonies resembling the best contemporary classical works. The romantic character is kept throughout the composition, but I miss here some, at least short, contradiction. I have noticed a few dissonant sounds in the viola parts, but I did not have time to check it in detail. Very good continuous use of expression controls. It makes string instruments sound more natural and soft enough. Excellent job, worth the best quality award in my opinion.
Lost Memories 7.00 The introduction was very promising, but the rest of the composition went in a different direction than I expected. Chords progressions are not convincing to me. You often repeat the same notes in two string tracks which produces an unpleasant chorus-like effect. I also did not like a few thrown in passages having very little to do with the main direction of the song.
Battle of Magic 6.00 Too short to give any better score. The passage you present is musically well composed, but it is only an introduction. Technically, there are several things that should be improved. 1) In the first bar you have mixed notes with initial control messages, which is no good. Try to place all control and instrument definitions in the first bar and start the music from the second bar. 2) Overquantization  and equal volume values of all instruments. As a result the sound is not particularly good.
Haunted 6.50 I think this music was composed by the same author as the Battle of Magic. A little longer and better, but my technical remarks are similar as in the previous song.
CINEMATIC
Journey in my Dreams 7.60 The best thing in this composition is its first part and the main motif at the same time. Very interesting and unconventional. You tried later to introduce a few variations of it, but they were not so good as the original. Nice music.
Twilight Journey 6.30 There are interesting moments in this composition, but as a whole it is a bit repetitive and too mechanically constructed. Unnatural "chopping" sound is a result of overquantization. Some good drum patterns. The channel for percussion has to be changed from 11 to 10.
What a Fool I Was 6.30 Also very mechanical and "chopping". Chords progressions are not very original and the expression is almost unchanged throughout the arrangement. Needs many improvements, no doubt.
Ants and Fairys Dance 6.20 I have almost fallen asleep when listening to this music. Very repetitive and monotonous. A continuous improvisation of the violin with almost unchanged accompaniment of other instruments. Very tiring.
Willabum's Final Adventure 9.50 Technically almost perfect arrangement. Very professional. The composition itself, a kind of a musical collage, is also very good and diversified, but my musical taste is probably a bit different. So, I did not like it that much in relation to the great orchestration and arranging job done here. Anyway, a really impressive work.
The Market 9.20 Very interesting and tasteful arrangement of Arabic motives. Excellent orchestration and well controlled dynamics. A little bit underdeveloped, I think. Too short for such a good composition.
Midnight 9.00 Very subtle and well balanced  arrangemnet. Very good control of the dynamics, but the lack of tempo changes lowers the quality of this composition. The ending was perfect. I liked it very much indeed.
Emerald 7.50 Interesting music, very nostalgic in places. A little overquantized, but with well balanced dynamic. I didn't like the break in whistle melody (bar 17/18). I think it should be either a little longer or cut out at all. I would also split the slow strings part in two (lower - bass/cello and higher - violas/violins) .
Brave New World 7.00 Some good fragments, but too monotonous as a whole (I have noticed only two or three chord changes in the second half). Interesting drum pattern starting at bar 84, but repeated further unchanged. The piano part is very unnatural, probably due to overquantization and equal note values. Didn't like the final fragment and the ending.
Duke Nuke Play 8.70 Good composition. Interesting bass line and a well arrangement of all instruments in spite of a very unclear view, due to constant instrument patch changes . I liked the accompanying sound of kalimba, but the space voice sounded not so good. I would use another instrument here.
POP - ROCK
Hypocrite 6.00 Too monotonous and repetitive. The guitars sound too flat for my taste. They are overquantized and have too little expression (dynamic). Again drums on channel 11!!. I heard here very dissonant piano sounds before I changed into channel 10.
Turn Off That Awful Noize 6.50 Typical rock composition. Frankly speaking, I didn't like it very much. The guitars do not sound natural and the arrangement is not balanced enough. There is also something wrong with the controls. I listened to this song three times and every time I heard something else. Not all instruments were heard or the volume was dropping down in the middle of a passage. Check it out. I did not have time to look for the reason.

Let's Play 7.80 Sounds OK. A little too repetitive, though. I had problems to get this file play the right instruments. You should always take care when inserting all the controls - shift them a little in each track in relation to the previous one. The drum part is really good, but if it was played live, why have you quantized it so precisely? You have lost all the natural effect by this.
Blow by Blow 5.80 I must say this composition was not convincing to me. Too repetitive, too little elaborate and uneven rhythmically. The lead guitar sounds very artificial and the piano part is simply a misunderstanding. Nobody plays the piano that way.
COUNTRY - WESTERN
Pass the Jug, Jethro 8.90 Very good composition and a very in style arrangement. Typical country & western sound. I have noticed some timing problems , though. For example, after the initial banjo/violin solo, the band comes too early. It starts playing in the middle of bar 32, instead of waiting until the solo passage ends (end of bar 33). This is the major mistake I found in this song. There are also some rhythmical inaccuracies in the banjo part. Also the dynamics could have been more variable, but as a whole, I have listened to this music with great pleasure.
JAZZ
Hobble Skirt 1914 7.30 Nice composition. There are some inaccuracies in the honky tonk piano part and it sounds unnatural momentarily, but the song is well composed in general. I have some remarks concerning the accompanniment. For example, chords played by banjo are too limited. You use mostly two notes of each chord in an octave shift, which sounds very "dry". Why not add a third or even a fourth note to make it sound broader.
AMBIENT
River Harp in China 6.00 Typical chinese atmoshere. Kind of free improvisation, but with several timing inaccuracies. When writing music for a solo instrument, more attention has to be paid to each note played. I think your composition requires a few corrections in this respect.
EXPERIMENTAL
Sunny Day 5.00 What kind of an experiment is this?
Knight Time 4.80 No comments.
OTHERS - UNKNOWN
Roving Song 7.20 Interesting and original composition with very unconventional instrumentation and arrangement.
Frame Work 5.00 I guess it is a continuation of "Strike Alley". Very similar in character. Read my comments in August reviews. Most of them can apply here.
Bless Manhattan 6.90 Not very original and similar to many songs of the kind. I have the impression this music was written in a hurry and you did not have enough time to elaborate and put final touches to it.
