I listened to it on a few different sound cards but it always had a sort of “clunky” quality that I hear in a lot of midis that aren’t fine-tuned. As a live performance, 9, as a stand-alone midi, 7.”
Trio	7.50	“The chord progression somewhere in the middle of the piece threw me for a loop. Wandered around a lot. I think it might have done better with more direction because of the choice of style.”

War March	10.00	“Excellent atmosphere in the beginning. Opening theme and where it occurs through the piece gets a 10, but some of the sections interspersed rambled, they get 9.8 but it doesn’t bring the overall score down. Good gunshot effects for the battle, another 10 for the originality there. I’ve heard some attempts in other pieces to capture that effect but this piece mastered it beautifully. The main melody in the wind instruments gave the piece a sense of being alive with the slight syncopation between the two instruments.”
Romantic Suite	9.00	“Seemed to me like hearing the same piece several times over but that was mainly because of the style I think. Generally I’m not fond of this sort of style because of that aspect but I have not included that into the score. Reminded me a lot of Debussy.”

Journey in my Dreams	8.20	“Another piece that sounds like I’ve heard it before when I know I haven’t…A lot of interesting effects in this piece. They got a bit repetitive and I kept expecting a new instrument or a theme variation to come in but it didn’t until after many repeats. The Middle Eastern instruments and tonality that snuck in about three and a quarter minutes through sounded like they came in accidentally and then said “oops” and went out.”
Twilight Journey	8.00	“Interesting use of guitar effects in the beginning. I thought it was going to break into a fast rock or techno deal at one point near the beginning but then it kept pulling back for a very metronomy section that dragged the spirit of the piece down until the lead guitar came back in. Struck me that the sections could have been let to cut loose a little bit more and that lead guitar could’ve romped around like it really seemed to want to.”

Though I’m not generally an advocate of dynamics being a “must” in midis, I think this piece needed it because of the instruments—specifically the piano and strings.”

I’m not sure whether my sound card was responsible for this or not, but all the sounds had a harshness that didn’t fit the themes, melodies, etc. Also was very mechanical sounding which again didn’t seem to fit the mood. “
