CLASSICAL
& ORCHESTRAL
|
| To
The Queen of England (8K6), GM - Sept 4 |
|
| The first Symphony is
a statement on the Globalization movement, and the lost of old empires,
and the creation of new ones, this is the third movement. Rather
then the old classical tradition of fast/ slow/ fast /mixed/, I've
set out in my first symphony to establish a sad or tragic /happy
or loving /sad or tragic/ mixed /set of movements for sad Symphony's
and happy or loving/sad of tragic/ happy or loving/mixed for happy
Symphony's. Will I change the classical world? Probable not. The
piece is in 6/8 time in A minor, Standard 8m sound font Creative
128 PCI card, Edited with Anvil Studio. |

| Death
at Genoa (13K), GM - Sept 4 |
|
| Death at Genoa is the
four movement of my first Symphony. Rather then the old classical
tradition of fast/ slow/ fast /mixed I've set out in my first symphony
to establish a sad or tragic /happy or loving /sad or tragic/ mixed
/set of movements for sad Symphony's and happy or loving/sad of
tragic/ happy or loving/mixed for happy Symphony's. Will I change
the classical world? Probable not. Death at Genoa is how I felt
about the death that occurrence there, and the events that have
lead that death. It is tragic that people have to die just to be
able to say what they think. The piece is in 6/4 time in B flat
major, Standard 8m sound font Creative 128 PCI card, Edited with
Anvil Studio. |

| Suite #1 Dmaj
(39K), GM - Sept 9 |
|
It
was composed on a Packard-Bell computer using Noteworthy Composer
software.
Its a suite for "pseudo-strings" in 4 movements. |
| |
| Doublin (83K7), GM
- Sept 11 |
|
| Doublin
is scored for large orchestra and features solo by many of the insturments,
including Flute, Horn, Tuba, and Timpani. The work is very Irish
sounding, hence the title, and is oosely based upon a theme by Wagner.
I have no experience with MIDI tools so this is simply the playback
of what I notated in Finale. This is why there are no tempo changes
or sharp dynamic contrasts." |

| The Hubbard
Saga (60K7), GM - Sept 12 |
|
| The
piece was commissioned for the Sale Festival 2001, where it was
performed in June 2001. The second performance will take place at
the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester on 2nd October
2001. It is based on and follows the rhythm of the poem Old Mother
Hubbard, by Sarah Catherine Martin, and the children's choir, split
to go either side of the adult choir, sings the barking of the dog
in stereo response style (a.k.a. antiphonal woofers!). At about
2 minutes 40 seconds in there is a section for individual children
to speak and explain the story of the poem (the strings rest on
various chords while the child speaks, followed by a comment from
clarinet and flute in turn - the final explanation ends with the
info that the original manuscript of the poem was sold for $5,000,
to which the adult choir responds with a woof woof of admiration
- it was difficult to choose the right patch for that, but I plumped
for guitar fret noise!). At various points the flute and clarinet
wander off in a jig like dance. The piece is full of music jokes,
which will make more sense in the live performance, but I trust
that this midi file gives a good idea of the piece as a whole and
that you enjoy hearing it as much as I have enjoyed making it.

| Trio (2K3), GM - Sept
16 |
|
| A
really quick trio I did using my midi keyboard only. |
| |
| Adagio Interlude
(5K5), GM - Sept 19 |
|
| Incidental
music notated and sequenced on Cakewalk Home Studio using Roland
SoundCanvas fonts (previously submitted to a another midi contest,
so some of you might have heard it already). This piece is for a
chamber wind ensemble and string orchestra; characterized by pedal
tones, mostly full chords, some dissonances, some intertwined melodies
and some unconventional progressions. e n j o y. |

| War March (146K5),
GM - Sept 26 |
|
| WarMarch
is a story of troops going off to battle. It includes four distinct
parts....marching to the battle, the fight, the aftermath, and on
to the next battle. Hopefully the drum rolls and brass sections
translate properly on your system. (I love tubas!!!!) I added a
GM reset and spread out the controllers so Pawel would be happy!!!
:-) Composed using Cakewalk 8.04 and an AWE-64 soundcard with an
8 meg GM soundfont. This tune is dedicated to all those brave souls
who have fought for freedom around the world and will continue to
do so in the future. |

Romantic Suite
3rd movement, Never Ending (172K), GM - Sept 28 |
|
| This
piece complements two other movements. If you listen carefully,
you will hear some motives of my previous submissions appear. Strings
are very difficult to reproduce decently with MIDI. But this piece
is almost based exclusively of strings: the soft strings for the
background accompaniment, and two solo violas for some melody fragments.
I tried to balance the sound for the Emu 4MBGS soundfont, but the
result is not exactly as I wanted... I hope you still find the music
enjoyable on your sound hardware. |

| Lost
Memories, Merlin violin version,
Standard voice version
and Sibelius version
(35K), GM - Sept 28 |
|
| Composed
using SBLive, Cakewalk and Sibelius. The better one is the violin
version with the Merlin soundfonts. The Sibelius version is an experiment
using some controls. The Standard version is for standard EMU soundfonts. |

| Battle of Magic
(12k), GM - Sept 30 |
|
| I'd
say this is Contemporary classical, this is pretty short march type
of song, I think it goes well along the title Battle of magic, cuz
I can imagine somekind of fight between good and evil when I listen
to this, I used SB live with 4MB GMGSMT soundfonts and Evolution
Midi. |
| |
| Haunted (19K),
GM - Sept 30 |
|
| This
is Contemporary classical and is pretty fantasy like song. I like
the feel on this one, I think it's very mysterious, I used SB live
with 4MB GMGSMT soundfonts and Evolution Midi. |
